Rabbis Endorse Murder of Non-Jews PDF Print E-mail
Hundreds of right-wing Jews demonstrated outside Israel's Supreme Court over the brief detention of two prominent rabbis. The rabbis endorsed the King's Torah written by settler rabbis which justifies killing non-Jews, including those not involved in violence. The book states that 'you can kill those who are not supporting or encouraging murder in order to save the lives of Jews' and that babies can justifiably be killed if it is clear they will grow up to pose a threat. Israel Blocks Freedom PDF Print E-mail
Foreign western pro-Palestinian activists planning to visit the West Bank were barred from flying and others deported. Two US women were among the first to be deported from Israel. Airlines in France, Germany and Switzerland prevented ticket-holders from boarding planes. Groups of Israelis were also arrested in Israel after gathering to welcome foreign activists. Greece blocked a 10-ship aid convoy trying to break the blockade on Gaza. Israel sabotaged two ships, one Irish and one Swedish, and pressured Greece to block the sailings of French, US and Canadian vessels. (BBC, 8 Jul 2011)

40 year old Tom MacMaster, a US student at the University of Edinburgh, a married man, was found to be behind a hoax blog which claimed to be written by a gay woman in Syria. The blog gained a worldwide readership and was closely followed by news reporters. (BBC, 13 Jun 2011)

Gaza's unemployment rate was among the world's highest, at 45.2% in late 2010, the UN has found, as Israel's blockade of the territory enters its fifth year. UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said: 'These are disturbing trends and the refugees, who make up two-thirds of Gaza's 1.5 million population, were the worst hit.' (BBC, 14 Jun 2011)
