Bangladesh blocks Facebook after satirical images of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa slalam were uploaded. Pakistan blocked all access to Facebook, along with YouTube, Wikipedia and Flickr, last week after images of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam started to appear online, while Saudi Arabia blocked a Facebook page with the images. Maldives President offered to take two detainees from the illegal US facility in Guantanamo Bay. Pakistan Blocks Facebook PDF Print E-mail
A court in Pakistan ordered authorities temporarily to block the Facebook social networking site. The order came when a petition was filed after the site held a competition featuring caricatures of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. The petition, filed by the Islamic Lawyers' Movement, said the contest was blasphemous. (BBC, 19 May 2010)

Malaysia Inter-religious Custody Battle PDF Print E-mail

Malaysia's highest court began proceedings in an inter-religious child custody battle. An Indian couple were married in a Hindu ceremony in 1998. The husband converted to Islam in 2002 and then converted his two young sons. The country's Islamic court granted custody to the father, while the civil courts gave custody to the mother. Malaysia's Federal Court is to decide if one parent can convert the religion of their children without the other's consent and who gets custody. (BBC, 3 May 2010)

 
Taliban Kill Pakistani Soldiers PDF Print E-mail

Seven Pakistani soldiers killed in an ambush by Mujahideen in North Waziristan. The area is a Taliban and al-Qaeda stronghold. Meanwhile Taliban executed four men accused of spying for the US in the same area. (BBC, 23 April 2010)
