An employee should recognize the value of work and be grateful to Allah Ta’ala. He has to fulfill certain obligations that Islam highlights:
Discharging obligations with commitment and proficiency.
The Qur’aan refers to these qualities: "One of the two daughters of Shuaib (alaihis salaam) said: ‘O my father! Employ him; surely the best of men for you to employ are those who are strong and trustworthy’." (28:26)
Commitment and Dedication.
The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "When a man does any work, Allah wishes him to give it perfection and grace."
The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "Fulfill the trust of one who has entrusted you..." Time and punctuality are a trust, the employer’s time is sacred. Killing time, neglecting duties and poor performance are tantamount to treachery of this trust.
A Hadith states: "There is no Imaan (faith) in one who is not trustworthy nor is there religion in one who does not keep his promise."
Work is an act of worship which requires sincerity of purpose and loyalty. The employer is entitled to: Sincerity, Responsibility, Honesty and Proficiency.
