Italy to Ban Veil PDF Print E-mail
An Italian parliamentary committee passed a draft law which will ban women from wearing face veils in public. The bill, which has the backing of Prime Minister Berlusconi's coalition, would prohibit the wearing of a burka, niqab or any headwear which covers the face. Belgium and France have already banned the full-face veil in public. (BBC, 2 Aug 2011)
