Here’s a really nifty little application that we’ve tried for cellphones: the Halal Guide. |
This is a free application that can be found by Googling ‘Halalguide’ or downloaded from www.guidedways.com. Works on most cellphones. This program lists a wide range of E-codes and ingredients. Ingredients are classified into Halal, Haram and Depends (on whether it is of animal origin or not).
Comprehensive list of E-codes and ingredients.
Color-coding to easily distinguish Halal and Haram.
Details of ingredients including uses, origin and other information.
A search feature.
Zoom tool for easier reading. Halal/Haram filter.
This application works like a charm. It’s easy to use and fast, meaning that you can quickly check an ingredient while in the supermarket. Free upgrades are available with updated lists.
System requirements include a Java-enabled phone that supports: * MIDP 1.0 * JAR files of 75 KB or more. * 100 KB of free RAM * Screen width of 128 pixels or more. Also available for Smartphones, Pocket PCs, Blackberry devices and Symbian OS.
