 Fez Now read of the destruction of Ottoman Turkey and ponder:
FROM ISLAMIC SUPERPOWER... Turkey was the leader of the Muslim world for 500 years, ruling over areas of Asia, Africa and Europe until 1918. She influenced world opinion and was feared by Europe. A veritable superpower.
...To ABSOLUTE ZERO The enemy of Islam, Kemal Attaturk overthrew the Caliph. He introduced a plan, the result of which is a Turkey whose people know very little about Islam and have no power.
This is how he did it:
MY KINGDOM FOR A FEZ 1924 Law banning the Turkish fez. European style hats had to be worn. 1926 Islamic laws replaced by Swiss code. 1928 Teaching of Islam in schools banned. Arabic script replaced with Roman 1935 Friday replaced by Sunday as weekly holiday. To eradicate Islam, the symbols of Muslim identity were abolished.
The starting point? The unique headgear of the Muslims. The lesson? Hold firm to the distinguishing features of Islam |
